Wolf Creek Inn reopens with new proprietors
The Wolf Creek Inn, in southern Oregon, has reopened with new proprietors! Andrew and Jessie Shroyer, and Andrew’s sister, Sally Lopez, came across the RFP for the concession while living in Portland. They decided a change of life would be exciting and took on the property.
What a great stop! If you like classic hotels, and are a bit of a history buff, you will enjoy the warmth, hospitality and interesting glimpse back to the days of the Applegate Trail when miners, settlers and travelers between Oregon and California simply needed a place to rest their weary heads and get a hearty meal. No giving up on creature comforts here either. High speed internet, comfy beds, and plush towels will make your night very enjoyable. They even have an electric car charging station.
While you are here, take a quick 3 mile jaunt to Golden, Oregon to see the remains of a gold mining town that was effectively strip mining the riverbed.
If you have visited other Oregon State Park historic sites, you may have visited Kam Wah Chung and the Sumpter Dredge. This is another part of the story of the immigration of Chinese miners to Oregon and the different mining techniques used in Oregon’s gold rush.
