Peter D. Mohr, Chair

Peter is an Attorney with Jordan Ramis PC. An environmental and natural resources lawyer, Peter specializes in water law including issues related to wetlands and wildlife as well as wind power. He is a member of the American Bar Association (Environmental, Energy & Natural Resources Section); Oregon State Bar (Environmental & Natural Resources Section); Colorado Bar Association; Oregon Business Association (Environmental & Economic Development Committee); METRO Natural Areas Program Performance Oversight Committee (Appointed Member).

Brigitte Sutherland, Treasurer

Brigitte is an Accountant and Shareholder with Perkins & Co. With more than 15 years of public and private accounting experience, Brigitte specializes in tax planning, research and compliance for pass-through entities: S-corporations, partnerships and limited liability companies. She was formerly a senior manager for Reznick Group in Bethesda, MD., where she had client responsibility for tax and assurance services. Brigitte also has experience in private industry as an assistant controller.

Mollie Gundersen, Secretary

Mollie is a Senior Audit Manager at CohnReznick LLP.  She is a certified public accountant (CPA) specializing in providing audit and management advisory services to various types of real estate entities and nonprofit organizations. She specializes in residential real estate and has a national practice servicing clients including developers, investors, for-profit and nonprofit owners and management companies.  In her free time, Mollie and her family are frequent campers in Oregon State Parks.

 

Bruce S. Barnes, Immediate Past Chair

Bruce is a Plant Identification Software Producer; and a Retired Licensed Clinical Social Worker.He is affiliated with theEpiscopal Relief and Development (National Council of Advice; Multistate Regional Coordinator); Oregon Native Plant Society; Diplomat in Clinical Social Work.  In the past, he has also been affiliated with the  National Association of Social Workers; Oregon East Symphony (Founding President; Treasurer; Board); Oregon County Mental Health Directors Association (Chair). He served as Chair of the Foundation from January 2013 to January 2015,  and Secretary before that.

Lisa Dawson (ex officio)

Lisa is the Executive Director of the Northeast Oregon Economic Development District. She helps non-profit and community organizations flourish by improving their long-term viability. She works collaboratively to increase technical assistance, networking, skill-building and financing for entrepreneurs and business owners. She grew up on a farm in the Wallowa Valley and enjoys working with the people and communities that define the rural region in which she makes her home. Lisa became a member of the Oregon State Parks & Recreation Commission in 2014. She visits Iwetemlaykin State Heritage Site nearly every morning.

Brian P. Harney

Brian is the Smart Energy Program Manager for NW Natural. Brian also served as director of marketing and communications for the Washington County Visitors Association and Cycle Oregon Ride Director/Senior Events Manager for Peter Jacobsen Productions. He is affiliated with the American Lung Association. Reach the Beach (Founder); and the American Marketing Association.

Jennifer McCormick

Jennifer is the Marketing Manager at Oregon Public Broadcasting.  She is well known to the Park System, having worked in Marketing Communications for almost 6 years before going on to work as Communications Director for Western Rivers Conservancy and then moving to Oregon Public Broadcasting.  She also served two years on the Board of Travel Salem. Jennifer has more than 10 years of experience leveraging integrated marketing – including digital, social and traditional media – and community partnerships to successfully plan and execute marketing strategies for non-profits and governmental agencies.

Seth L. Miller (ex officio)

Seth is the Executive Director of the Oregon State Parks Foundation; He is also President and owner of Best From The Cascades. Seth brings strategic management, financial and process improvement expertise to growing consumer product and service companies. With an MBA from the Harvard Business School and more than 30 years of hands-on leadership experience, Seth lead a Harvard Community Partners project team that made recommendations for revising the strategy of the Oregon State Parks Trust in 2011, and subsequently became a member of the Board of the renamed Oregon State Parks Foundation in September of 2014.  He became Executive Director in early 2016.

Tom Simpson

Tom is the Director of Government & Regulatory Affairs at The Standard. His community affiliations include College Application Week (Steering Committee Member); American Leadership Forum of Oregon (Board Member); and Portland YouthBuilders (Board Member).

Lisa Van Laanen

Lisa Sumption (ex officio)

Lisa has been the Director of the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department since March of 2014.   She joined the Department in August of 2007 as the Assistant Director -Administrative Services.  Before joining the Department, she worked in E-Commerce and Audit roles with the Oregon Department of Administrative Services and the Oregon Department of Human Services.  She began her career in regional management with KMart Corporation for 10 years.  As the Director of OPRD, Lisa is an ex-officio member of the Foundation Board.

Wendy Veliz

Wendy joined the Board in May 2017 after completing a four year term as a member of the Oregon State Parks Commission.  She is an employee of Portland General Electric in the Government Affairs Department.

She has also served two terms as board chair of the Oregon Council for Hispanic Advancement (OCHA), was a member of the State of Oregon Commission for Hispanic Affairs, and the United States Commission on Civil Rights/Oregon State Advisory Committee, and the Hispanic Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce board.

Wendy is a third generation Latina who grew up in Woodburn and now resides in Aurora.

Tim Wood 

Tim is the most recent former Director of the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (he retired in January 2014).  He also currently serves on the Board of Western Rivers Conservancy.  His past professional & community affiliations include the National Association of State Park Directors (Board Member); SOLVE (Board Member); Tillamook Forest Heritage Center (Board of Trustees); and Ocean Policy Advisory Council. He was previously a Colonel in the US Army,  and served with the Army Corps of Engineers (Portland District).

 

Kyleen Zimber

Kyleen is a licensed Real Estate Broker with Windermere Realty Group in Lake Oswego.  She developed her passion for Oregon parks during her childhood, watching chipmunks with her grandfather at waysides along Highway 97, peeking into the Crooked River Gorge with her big brothers, enjoying family outings and challenging hikes at Silver Falls State Parks, and heading to the ocean with her parents to watch the dramatic waves, walk on the sandy beaches, and explore the rocky shores.  Kyleen joined the staff of Oregon Parks and Recreation Department in 2000 and served in various roles including the Financial Services Division Manager; Assistant Director of Administration; and Assistant Director of Recreation Programs and Planning until 2011.
