Help Build the Cottonwood Canyon Experience Center
The Oregon State Parks Foundation is raising $800,000 to construct the Cottonwood Canyon Experience Center. A multi-use facility for group learning, meetings, events and community activities at the newly opened Cottonwood Canyon State Park. The Experience Center is the heart of a larger, Oregon State Parks and Recreation Department $1.6 million project that includes 6 cabins and a shower/bath facility with shaded outdoor space, fireplace, and walkways connecting to camping and cabin areas.
We have less than $100,000 to go! With your contribution of any size, you can help ensure the construction of the Experience Center at Cottonwood State Park.
Your support for this project is critical. A number of foundations have made their contributions contingent upon us meeting our fundraising goal. We are so close! Please support this project with a gift of any amount to show that you believe this project will be an important addition to the communities of the John Day watershed.
The Cottonwood Canyon Experience Center will provide an opportunity for residential outdoor learning, regional activities, environmental education and cultural events that serve the community, the region, and state park visitors from across the state and nation. This multi-use facility will include classroom space, interpretive displays, activity and meeting areas, park-specific library, and relaxation and contemplation space. The Experience Center will be a modest 1,700-square-foot enclosed building in the ranch vernacular of the region with shaded outdoor space, fireplace, walkways connecting to camping and cabin areas, and sustainable design throughout.
Construction of the Experience Center is expected to begin in spring 2017. Your show of support is needed now. Thank you for considering a gift to help bring this project to life.
